Note, I?m no gun expert but the last guy was using a different looking rifle to the rest of the other guys because his rifle had a darker wood and a chrome plated bolt (is that what you call it?).

@TheFalconryFan . exact. your links are facts. to believe AK47 is the most reliable assault rifle is a common mistake, it's globally more sensitive to wild environments, stocking conditions than modern AR15 design. if 3/4 of assault rifles are kalashnikovs s it's because they were/are produced at very large scale, with a cheap price. it contributed to the ak47 myth, but technically speaking it's outclassed since a while...

@TheFalconryFan I know and yeah you are totally right about what you said about the m4 carbine but the xm8 project could of made it but was expensive to produce but what weapon would you think the US Army should use, Because the m16 is really old I think they should use rifles like the ACR, H&K G3, AUG, and maybe for heavy desert operation throw in a few hundred Ak-101's you know Ak's are really really reliable in the dusty battlefields you know.

@Killer9026, I have the same problem, I share a computer with my roomate and I never log off, so I get replies on videos which have nothing to relate to me. Bushmaster makes the best AR-15, I have one never once have a problem with it, they made a rifle to conquer the problems with the M16 the ACR must be very great. I still like the M4 Carbine, it's cheaper than the ACR, lighter, same rate of fire, it's design isn't as great and it's probably less reliable than the ACR but it gets the job done.

Both the AR and the AK are great systems. A modernized AK is very ergonomic..... Please refrain from the old and foolish comments "AK is veer inaccurate AR jams like a motherf%#fer. Air guns are cheaper to maintain. Ammunition for airguns is cheaper too. Airguns can have enough power to shoot up to at least a 100 yards. This is pushing it, and would need a lot of fine tuning, but with a PCP with regulator it can be done. And that kid wouldn't be able to shoot with a 30-06, would he?

Hmmmm, people tell me I need to learn how to reload, but that sure seems like a lot of work! I'm trying to decide if it is worth the investment. I do not shoot a lot, but I do like the idea of maintaining a healthy storage of rounds. Having skills as a reloader (and the tools to do it) certainly seems like a it could be a high-value skill if shortages become a problem!

I used to reload a lot when I was shooting NRA Highpower. I always loathed doing it however. Those little .223 casings just aren't any fun to reload. Lubing them and resizing was a major pain in the ass. I don't mind reloading straight walled hand gun rounds though. The RCBS carbide dies are great for those since you don't have to mess with any case lube.

I'd recommend placing all of your brass neck down in the reloading block prior to powder charging. Then turn them over one at a time when you charge to avoid accidentally double charging any round. With a .308 you are fairly safe but with some pistol rounds it is possible without noticing the double charge.

@phailbax, but it's expensive and it weighs more than the M14 EBR. The DMR's are surplus M14 rifles. As a result, they're a lot more low cost and there are more available. The M110 SASS is also a rifle designated for say a "sniper who stays in one place" and the EBR is a mobile platform.

1903 Springfield Rifle

A quick look at my 1903 Springfield rifle, manufactured by the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. Caliber is, of course, the venerable 30/06 Springfield (.30 caliber, 1906). This particular rifle was fitted during WWII with a new High Standard manufactured barrel. It shoots pretty well for a rifle that's around 90 years old!

@Weatherby378 No, Wikipedia doe not have "all the answers" and neither does any other single source of information. However, on the whole, it is a very good source of information. My point in referencing Wikipedia is that some people wont even do the most basic research on-line before throwing insults and making erroneous statements. Frankly I doubt they would make the effort to find a book that deals with the subject at hand, hence the Wikipedia reference.

@314299 it shoots okay, my marksmanship with open sights leaves a little to be desired though so I won't blame the equipment. usually in the 2-3" range @ 100 yds. I've also read the barrels of these rifles seem to prefer full support, such as provided by the G.I. furniture. a full length glass bedding is going to be one of my winter projects so we'll see if it improves and then I'm going to pass it along to one of my nephews.
